Body
As Agency
The world is built around human physicality. Every chair, every bed, every door, every building. Even the construction of time feels like built around human existence. While navigating in the world around us we tend to forget our physical existence and the importance it holds. It is not only a vessel of existence, but it entails so much more.
This project is to understand the space and existence of time through body control and body movement and using body as a scale.
World In Reverse
Makes Complete Sense
Students are to pick a movie of their choice. Reduce the duration of it to 60 seconds in a manner that the story, genre, and essence of the film are not lost. And then do it in reverse.
The idea of Reverse is kept open to interpretation.
Self Portrait
in Moving Image
The project involves rigorous research and discussion on the Art of Portraiture. How it evolved in different cultures. How the self-portraits came into being and their importance. And what is today in times of selfies?
In the art (history) world we have seen portraits in every medium except for moving images/video (not to be confused with film).
So based on your understanding, what would be your self-portrait in moving images?
Tangible / Intangible

By this time, students would have explored the space in various aspects. At this stage, they will translate their experience and understanding of an installation in relation to that particular space.
Art Object + Video
Rethink/ Reimagine/Redefine Video.
Part 1: Exploration
A visit to the main city, Hall Road, and Bilal Ganj (Landa, New Flea Market, and any other place that captures student's fancy). A visit to the main city, Hall Road, and Bilal Ganj (Landa, New Flea Market, and any other place that captures student's fancy). A metropolis works like an organism, it has different sections which provide different specialties. Lahore is no different. The idea is to familiarize the students with the parts of the city they might have not been to before. This will allow them to know what materials and mediums Lahore has to offer other than its history while at the same time forming a new relationship with their city.
Part 2: Formalization
-
We will explore and deconstruct the components of the video and reexamine and reconstruct the possibilities of its display.
-
Making a static or kinetic object that integrates video and incorporates the expertise from the places visited.
-
The object must be small enough to be transported in the front seat of the car.
-
The object must not need any complex technical assistance.
